I finally got my development blog up and running. I decided to move my site over to my own server so that I can learn more about how these things work, instead of just letting a hosting provider do everything for me. Once I got DNS figured out I installed Apache2 and even got SSL working thanks to the EFF’s [https://certbot.eff.org/][certbot] which made secure site traffic easy.
This blog site is built using Jekyll, an open source tool that enables markdown post writing and fancy embedded code highlighting which I plan on making use of. I’m going to move my old code samples into this blog format soon, as I think it lets me talk more about why I made the decisions I did in a more flexible way. I hope to soon be posting some new code too, with some more of the things I’ve been working on recently.
